Marinelite NMEA208 NMEA Buffer

Marinelite NMEA208 NMEA Buffer

The NMEA208 NMEA Buffer is a reliable marine data distribution device designed to expand and stabilize your vessel’s NMEA0183 network. It receives up to two NMEA input signals and distributes them to multiple navigation devices, ensuring clean and interference-free data transmission.

Ideal for connecting equipment such as GPS, AIS, radar, autopilot, and chartplotters, the NMEA208 guarantees stable communication across your onboard navigation system. Its compact design, flexible configuration, and dependable performance make it an essential component for modern marine electronics integration.

Technical Information

The NMEA208 NMEA Buffer is a professional marine signal distribution device designed to receive, amplify, and distribute NMEA0183 navigation data to multiple onboard systems. It acts as a buffer, splitter, distributor, and signal amplifier, ensuring that navigation data can be safely shared between several marine instruments without signal degradation.

The device accepts two independent NMEA0183 input channels and distributes each input to multiple output ports. In its standard configuration, each input can be split into four independent RS422 outputs, allowing multiple navigation devices to receive the same data simultaneously. With configurable DIP-switch settings, the system can also operate with up to eight output channels, providing flexible signal routing across the vessel’s navigation network.

The NMEA208 ensures stable and interference-free data communication, preventing signal loss or degradation when multiple devices attempt to read the same NMEA data stream. This is particularly important when distributing critical navigation information such as GPS position, AIS data, heading, wind data, and depth information to multiple bridge systems.

Designed for marine environments, the unit supports a wide power input range of 10–36V DC, making it compatible with most vessel power systems. Its compact and durable construction allows easy installation within navigation consoles, bridge electronics cabinets, or integrated marine systems.

The NMEA208 is commonly used to distribute navigation data between GPS receivers, AIS transponders, autopilots, radars, depth sounders, multifunction displays, and ECDIS systems, ensuring consistent and reliable data communication across the entire bridge network.
